Adieus DADA

.... cricket-lover wont ever see u again taking a stance at the crease.. the crowd will never again cheer to the longest lofted sixes being hit off spinners..

people who saw you as inspiration will miss the killer-instinct, the spirit, the abominable attitude, the aggression... yes, India is still doing very well without you.. but the heart does not the way it used to when some Chetashwar Pujara walks in to bat at that number five position in test cricket....

..... an IPL tournament cannot snatch anything from you..your achievements for the country.. the class player you were.. as one of your fans i am not really sure whether you made full justification to the talent God bestowed you with... but still whatever you did makes you the best left-handed batsman to have played for India...

.... your critics perhaps won't ever mention your name.. the national journalists, TV panelists who made their living by criticizing you will shut their mouths for ever.. how loud a mouth be still everybody knows it deep down that you were a champion....

.... kolkata will never forget you dada... as long as you live you will be the prince of this city!!!!!

An afternoon @ ‘The Masi’s’

…Dark clouds had painted the western sky since morning. We were in our usual classroom, just outside the main college building…I mean, at our favorite masi r dokan, with only a couple of blue tarpaulin sheets, with white polka dots(courtesy: ‘The Kolkata Birds Association’) to save us from the impending rain. Eventually, the rain came down, unsettling our afternoon gathering. Immediately, we tried shifting the benches under the covering of the tarpaulin sheets, which seemed as unachievable as a panchayat under an umbrella. By the time things got adjusted, one of the benches was already half wet. My Lee Cooper and someone else’s Levis saved the other half…
The benches are usually set aside for esteemed customers like us. The rains bring a flavor of its own to The Masi’s - water pouring down the edges and through the gap between the two loosely hung tarpaulin sheets; someone standing with legs apart, in an attempt to save his newly bought Reebok or Woodland. There are others trying to keep the raindrops from making a rainy cocktail out of masi’s hot tea, skillfully balanced in between two fingers. Again there are some who, in an attempt to remain centrally warm, are seen mining the gold out of Gold Flakes. Masi’s tea with a share of chanachur at times, and the dampness of cigarette smoke in the rainy ambiance does add that special touch to the afternoon, that ordinary people who have only sipped crushed ice with coffee in life, won’t understand.
I feel (and I’m sure the other members of SIMD [Seasons In Masir Dokan] will agree), that if you really wanna enjoy life, enjoy it to the fullest…We love the centrally ACs, but we never miss out on the centrally rainy either…At our ‘Masi’s’, Reeboks and Woodlands happily stand on water at times and Lee Coopers do get wet…

eight days more to become a professional.

....for the last two months i have been counting days! Eight more days to go for my campus drive. Though situations and circumstances do not go in my favor but still kind of having a gut feeling deep down, that I am going to make it. If I start taking an account of my college life so far, I see it as a phase which has been a period of mixed struggles for me. Had the highs and lows in my life. When I first walked into the campus way back in august 2007, I felt this is going to be the end of my struggle perhaps. The initial days were full of colorful chirps, fun and merriment. But life got hold of me very soon. I realized that never in life can you afford to take life for granted. Even if you are an old man counting your days.

Today, standing in the last semester of my college life and counting days of myself becoming a professional, i feel a little vulnerable. What did i do with the last four years of my life? Have I really made it count, so as to invest this time blog as an investment for my future life. Might be the answers will become clear to me by the middle of this month. Just hoping that I don't have to go back to the phase of power struggle which has happened so often to me. Still I consider myself as a very strong individual, capable of handling anything that comes my way.

BEAR GRYLLS- a born survivor

Its not often that you see a sky-diver jump from the helicopter into nowhere.. and surrounds himself with all sorts of wild 'n' weird situations just for the sake of Adventure..
This man of 33 is a Guiness Book of World Records' record holder as the youngest Britisher to climb the mount Everest.. why only focus on The Everesr?? Check out the episodes of the Man Vs. Wild in the discovery channel..
I bet you wont even touch the remote even during the commercial breaks..
If you dont know him it would seem thay I am a bit over-exxagerating about this young lad.. but once you see a single episode on the discovery you'll say "ohh..what an adventurer"...

This man is not a famous figure in India but, he has aquired both name and fame to proclaim, "Yess , I am the best adventurer"..
Bear has been an author too.. a few of his books are international bestsellers..

A man stuck in the amazonian reinforest...
A man amidst the grumble of an erupting volcano..
A man on the snow clad peaks of the Himalayas..
A man rowing a raft from a mountain spring to the pacific..
A man he is the most adventurous..

I salute him and the world does it too...

SIMD- a way of life

Sometime around the beginning of 2009, outside the gates of an engineering college in Kolkata, a group of brothers was formed... neither the canteen or the common room, nor the fact that we paid over 20K each semester could keep us within the college premises...we found solace at a small tea shop neatly tucked in between the college and the VIP road...maybe, some things are best enjoyed free...at this place, Masi's tea shop, everyday is a holiday, where every morning starts with a smile, every afternoon is filled with laughter, and every evening ends with wishing each other goodbye...looking forward to the next time we meet again...hence from here, we have the name of this band of brothers as "Seasons In Masir Dokan"...

WHEN I FEEL LOST IN THE THOUGHTS OF LESSER MORTALS THAN BEING ECSTATIC ABOUT MY EXISTENCE HERE... I POUR WORDS HERE DESPITE EMOTIONS STRIVE HARD WITHIN..
WHEN I CRY I FLOW WORDS AND SPARE TEARS..
WHEN I GROAN I FEEL WORDS AND SPARE PAIN..
WHEN I SMILE I CULTURE WORDS AND SPARE HAPPINESS..
